
DenMed Certificate in Principles of Risk Assessment (Distance Learning)
This 4-hour distance learning course provides essential information regarding the fundamental aspects of risk assessment in the dental practice.
Background
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations employers have a legal duty to make suitable and sufficient assessment of risks to the health and safety of employees and all those who may be affected. Employers are obliged to appoint a competent person to assist in meeting this legal requirement. CQC also require service providers to ‘Assess risks to Health and Safety & ensure risk assessments are regularly carried out’
Programme Structure
Distance learning course consisting of a power-point presentation giving a broad introduction to the main areas of risk assessment. This method of learning enables the individual to work at their own pace within a reasonable timeframe. The duration is 4 hours to include the end of course 30-questions multiple-choice test taking approximately 60 minutes
Course Outline
The Aim of this course is for personnel from all levels of the organisation to understand the basic principles of risk assessment so they can contribute to the risk assessment process within their own working environment.

Assessment
Assessment for this course is by means of a 30-question multiple-choice ‘test’ covering the four outcomes. The test is a paper-based examination format marked by our quality assurance team.
Certification
Those who achieve the required standard will receive the DenMed Ltd Certificate Principles of Risk Assessment.
General Dental Council Verifiable Continuing Professional Development
Course complies with GDC Verifiable ECPD requirements incorporating Development Outcomes: B, C & D over a duration of 4 hours.
Delegate Pre-requisites
No specific prior qualifications, learning or experience is required. However, individuals who have achieved the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety will benefit from their existing knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety.
Delegate Specification
The course is designed for those who have a responsibility to monitor health and safety systems and procedures within the workplace for example:
- Dental nurses
- Receptionists
- Practice Managers
- Employers
- Dental Technicians
The responsibility may be for the whole workplace or a specific department/area
Progression
For those individuals with a greater responsibility for managing health & safety the DenMed ‘Managing Health and Safety’ 2-day course or the ‘Management of the Principles and Practice for Risk Assessment’ 2-day course are both the route of progression.
Course Fee
The course fee is £45.00 per person and is inclusive of all course content and materials including; power-point presentation, examination question and answer paper, assessment and quality assurance and DenMed certificate compliant with GDC ECPD requirements.
